For the records, Gionee S8s is the first Gionee smartphone to carry the notch design. We’ve seen dominant African smartphone players like TECNO and Infinix landing the notch design but this is Gionee’s first.
More so, it’s the brand’s first device to run on the latest Android OS, Android 9.0 Pie. That’s a welcome development because even at this point, neither TECNO nor Infinix have a device running on Pie OS. Away from OS and notch design, there are other criteria features on the Gionee S8s.

Gionee S8s Quick Review
You know the drill of smartphones with the U-notch design; notch at the top, minimal bezels and enormous screen estate. Although plastic material is employed to wrap the device, it’s still got crisp ergonomics because of the smooth furnishing.
Behind the phone, you’ll find the fingerprint scanner responsible for touch ID authentication. On the left side of the sensor are the dual cameras and dual-LED flash. Up front, there’s the 5.86-inch IPS screen that serves you enough display delectation. Other agents in the department are 19:9 aspect ratio and 720 x 1520 pixels resolution.
