Meizu 16, the latest offering from Meizu became official today alongside its plus version – Meizu 16 Plus. Prior to this announcement, Meizu had released the Meizu 15, Meizu 15 Plus and Meizu 15 Lite in the month of April this year.
This device brings a whole lot to the table. There’s the under display fingerprint scanner, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, 12MP + 20MP rear cameras, 20MP front camera and 64GB / 128GB internal memory. However, there’s an unavoidable flaw in the battery department. Asides this, there’s no issue with this device.
We’ll get to see what that flaw is, and the many other incredible features as we proceed.
Meizu 16 Quick Review!
The Meizu 16’s operations are handled by an upper mid-range chipset – Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. This 64-bit chipset features an octa-core 2.2GHz CPU and Adreno 616 for competent graphics output. Depending on choice, either a 6GB RAM or 8GB RAM can be employed to smoothen the smartphone’s multitasking efficiency.
Design wise, Meizu carved this device as a wonderful piece. The bezels are so slim they are tagged as razor bezels. The 7.3mm thickness gives the device of the slim nature while the 152g weight takes no glory off its sleekness. Interestingly, the phone sports the under display fingerprint sensor, which isn’t common among smartphone OEMs these days.
A 6.0-inch Super AMOLED glass with 1080 x 2160 pixels serves as the display headquarters of the phone. Well, that’s one thing about Meizu, they love Super AMOLED screens the way Samsung loves them too. An 18:9 aspect ratio provides more area for the display pleasure to be felt.
Moving on to the camera sector, a dual 12MP + 20MP setup takes control of rear photography. Brightness in dark conditions is supplied by a six-LED dual tone flash at the rear. The selfies on the phone are taken by a solo 20MP camera.
Meanwhile, Android 8.0 Oreo OS is at the software region. The Flyme UI is also in the mix to grant users the Meizu feel properly. Its battery, which I stated as its flaw, is earmarked at 2,950mAh although it charges really fast owing to the mCharge 4.0 technology. Files can be saved on the standard 64GB memory or 128GB memory. No MicroSD card slot is available on the device.
