Some time ago Twitter had presented a feature similar to Instagram Stories called Fleets. Fleets itself was released so that users can have new posting options with a number of features presented.
But as we know, Fleets still has many shortcomings when compared to Stories on Instagram. So that’s why Twitter users don’t use this feature much.
Yesterday, Twitter announced its decision to remove the Fleets feature from its social media platform starting August 3, 2021.

“We’re removing Fleets on August 3, working on some new stuff. We’re sorry or you’re welcome,” wrote Twitter.
Twitter followed up with a quick explanation as to why they are taking Fleets down after a Twitter user asked why.
We hoped Fleets would encourage more people to join the conversation, but that wasn’t the case. So we’re removing them and focusing on improving other parts of Twitter.

For those of you who don’t know about Fleets, this feature allows users to create posts in a vertical orientation where the content can only be viewed within 24 hours before the content is automatically deleted by the system.
It is possible that Twitter is currently preparing a new feature that is believed to be more useful than this Fleets. Previously they had also presented an audio chat service called Spaces which was presented to compete with the popularity of Clubhouse.
