The feature, according to a Threads post by developer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) is currently being tested with some iOS users and lets people:
- Add Context: Users can write notes to clarify or correct potentially misleading content.
- Stay Anonymous: Contributors remain anonymous to promote unbiased input.
- Crowdsource Truth: Notes from users with diverse perspectives help ensure balanced information.
If a note is deemed helpful by others, it will be published alongside the original post for better understanding.
Meta’s New Direction
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to shift the company’s approach to content moderation:
- Less Scanning, More Reporting: Meta will stop proactively scanning for hate speech and reduce restrictions on sensitive topics like immigration and gender.
- Focus on Severe Issues: Automated systems will concentrate on serious violations such as terrorism, child exploitation, scams, and drug-related posts.
