One of the security analysts from Kaspersky named Tatyana Shishkova recently revealed that she had found 7 Android applications that contained dangerous malware.
It is known that these applications contain malware called Joker which is claimed to be able to drain the contents of the victim’s wallet.
Through Shishkova’s tweet that was uploaded to Twitter, it was stated that the victim’s smartphone infected by this malware would be able to subscribe without being noticed by the owner.
The Joker malware has the ability to steal text messages, contact lists, and device information. It can also secretly subscribe users to premium services, so there’s a billing fraud angle to the malware as well. Of course, this can be detrimental to victims, especially those who do not have in-depth knowledge of smartphones.
Fortunately, these 7 applications have been removed by Google from the Play Store. However, smartphone users who have installed the application are advised to delete it immediately.
Without further ado, here are 7 apps that support the Joker malware:
- Now QRcode Scan – 10,000 download
- EmojiOne Keyboard – 50,000 downloads
- Battery Charging Animations Battery Wallpaper – 1,000 downloads
- Dazzling Keyboard – 10 downloads
- Volume Booster Louder Sound Equalizer – 100 download
