Ahead of the Snapdragon Tech Summit this year, Qualcomm has finally confirmed that it will change the name of its flagship chipset to Snapdragon 8 Gen1.
Initially, there were rumours that the name of Qualcomm’s latest chipset is Snapdragon 898 would be changed. But who would have thought if Qualcomm chose to ‘start a new era’ from this Snapdragon line?
Certainly, the use of this new name makes it easier for people to understand the chipset series made by Qualcomm, of which the number 8 indicates the type or level while Gen1 indicates the generation of the chipset.
This naming pattern is also believed to be similar to Intel where they are now naming their processors like Core i7 12th Gen.
With this, it is very likely that other Snapdragon chipset lines such as those from the mid-range and low-end categories will also experience changes following the naming of Snapdragon 8 Gen1.
Not much information about Snapdragon 8 Gen1 was provided by Qualcomm, however, it was stated that it will debut this new flagship chipset on November 30, 2021, through the Snapdragon Tech Summit event.
