4. Reversible and interchangeable
My phone once got damaged due to the fact it’s USB Type-B (Micro USB) and a Micro USB charger was wrongly plugged in. This mistake warranted a total overhaul of the phone’s USB port, and phone never remained the same henceforth. USB Type-C is totally different, you don’t have to worry about which way to plug it. They are completely reversible which implies that, you can stick them in either side up or down.
Now in other to make the USB Type-C work, the operating system will play a vital role, the softwares has to be properly coded to comply with the standards so as to use those extra USB features other than charging. According to Google, they claim the USB-ac chargers when plugged in, will provide you an options to select what action you want the cable to perform.
Phones coming to flagship first are…
The USB-C has already joined devices since 2015, phones like the Microsoft Lumia 950, OnePlus 3 and Motorola Moto Z and Z Force already use USB Type-C. Lets just hope it’s gets to other flagship real soon.
Although, the TECNO Phantom 6 and 6 plus has seen the USB Type-C featured in them, so we should be expecting more other Android devcie to come with this new type of USB ports. See Phantom 6 specifications here.
In conclusion:
I feel this is cool, the features are undeniably perfect and improvements welcomed but sadly, am scared for two things… It’s either you’ll be dishing out your phone to get a phone with the USB-C or a world where you’ll see different phones use different charging cables. There might therefore be need to buy a charger adaptor (universal charger adaptor) just to make sure your next phone charger will be included.
