Not long ago Xiaomi announced its latest fast charging technology that is capable of delivering up to 200W of power with a cable. As a result, the charging speed is claimed to be very fast.
However, this also raises questions for some people, particularly whether there are side effects from this fast charging technology, considering that the power delivered is so high that it may affect the battery life of the smartphone.
Xiaomi has now answered this question through a Question and Answer session on Weibo. Xiaomi says that there will indeed be side effects on the battery when using this technology, although it is not too significant.

It is stated that the smartphone battery that is charged using 200W fast charging will begin to decrease by 20% after charging around 800 cycles.
If it is calculated, it will take approximately 2 years for the smartphone battery capacity to stay 80% of the capacity that would originate as an effect of using this charger.
With this, if a smartphone with a 4,000 mAh battery capacity uses this 200W fast charging technology for 2 years, the capacity will eventually be reduced to 3,200mAh, while for a 5,000 mAh battery it will be reduced to 4,000 mAh.
Actually, the side effect is the same as fast charging with 120W power introduced by Oppo last year. That’s why there is really is no need for users to worry about this new fast-charging from Xiaomi.
