Google through its parent company, Alphabet Inc., plans to acquire the manufacturer of Fitbit wearable devices.
According to anonymous industry sources, Google has even sent an official offer. However, the source did not disclose how much Google offers to Fitbit. He also could not be sure which stage this offer had been.
At least, as a result of this breaking news, Fitbit shares skyrocketed to 30 percent.
However, it is not yet known for certain whether the news of Google’s acquisition of Fitbit is completely true or not. Because both Google and Fitbit have not provided official information related to that information.
But if it’s true, then the acquisition of Fitbit is likely to help Google to make their own wearable devices. Because, as is known Google only has a Pixel smartphone product. They don’t have smartwatch products like Samsung, Huawei, or Xiaomi.
In the wearable field, Google actually only provides an operating system (OS) called WearOS that is licensed to smartwatch vendors.
Regarding the acquisition of smartwatch manufacturers, Google previously announced that it had acquired smartwatch technology owned by fashion company Fossil for US $40 million.
The US technology giant even brought Fossil’s research and development division team responsible for making the company’s smartwatch technology.
However, it is not yet known what Google’s plans for the future regarding technology acquisition from Fossil. We look forward to it together.
