Meizu Launches Its First Notch Screen Smartphone, Meizu X8

Meizu X8 was recently launched by Chinese OEM – Meizu. The phone happens to be the company’s first dive into the trendy notch screen design. What makes this design usage hilarious is the fact the company’s CEO Jerry Wang had been very critical of the notch design. As the saying goes, people change.

The Meizu X8 features interesting specs such as the dual 12MP + 5 MP shooters located at its back, Bluetooth v5.0 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC to mention a few.

Meizu X8 Quick Review

Notch designs add class to a bezel-less smartphone, and that’s the exact thing it did to the Meizu X8. Having minimal bezels on both sides and a small chin, the good-looking smartphone is pretty appealing. The phone’s notch houses the earpiece, 20MP front camera, infrared and signal receiver. On the flip side, the cameras are located at the centre of the top quadrant wherein a LED flash and fingerprint sensor appear above and beneath it respectively.

Storage on the device exists in two variations – 64GB and 128GB. Just like most of its other smartphones such as Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus, Meizu opted not to implement a MicroSD card on this device. There’s little to worry about since the internal memory section is giant enough. Multitasking roles are played by either a 4GB or 6GB RAM depending on the variant.

A seamless Qualcomm SDM710 Snapdragon 710 SoC sits at the operation room of the smartphone to command the phone’s activities. It features Adreno 616 GPU as well as an octa-core 2.2GHz CPU. Moreover, Android Oreo OS and Flyme UI occupy the software region of the smartphone.

Also, a non-removable Li-Ion 3,120mAh battery is what sees to the lasting duration of the phone. Credits have to be given to the chip too as its battery optimization skills ensure the phone last longer. The Quick Charge technology on the device makes the charging rate extremely fast.
