Qualcomm is now known as one of the top chipset manufacturers that has various segments ranging from low-end, mid-range to flagships. Usually, chipsets made by Qualcomm come with the Snapdragon brand and use numbers as the series.
But it appears that Qualcomm will now change the naming system for its Snapdragon chipset. This was reported by one of the leakers on Twitter, Ice Universe through his latest tweet.
Ice Universe said that Qualcomm is rumoured to be planning to change the name of its newest chipset, the Snapdragon 898, which is planned to be released at the end of this year, it claims the chipset will come with another name, i.e Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
This is no joke. Qualcomm seems to really name Snapdragon 898 "Snapdragon 8 gen1"

“This is no joke. Qualcomm seems to really name Snapdragon 898 “Snapdragon 8 gen1″,” wrote Ice Universe on Twitter.
Although, it sounds quite strange because it is different from the naming used previously, however, the use of this name can make it easier for people to know the new series of flagship chipsets made by them.
For example, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, with this name, users can easily find out if the chipset is the first generation Snapdragon 8 series, and of course, the successor to the chipset is most likely Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or maybe Snapdragon 9 Gen 1.
