In early 2021, the United States government under the administration of President Donald Trump placed Xiaomi on the US blacklist. Initially, it was stated that this was due to Xiaomi’s alleged relationship with the Chinese military.
Having been directly denied by Xiaomi, it has now been revealed the real reason the US government has included this technology company on their blacklist.
Quoted from the Mint, it was stated that the main reason for this problem was the award received by the founder of the CEO of Xiaomi by the Chinese government some time ago.
It is known that in 2019, the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun was awarded “Outstanding Builder of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics” given by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
As a result, Xiaomi also announced the award received by its boss through its official page, especially in its annual financial statements.
For this reason, the US government has blacklisted Xiaomi which implies that all US-based investors and companies are not allowed to invest in Xiaomi again.
