Holy christ… what in the world do you need a 1TB storage for? Smartisan R1 officially becomes the first ever phone to sport a 1TB ROM… yeah 1 freaking terabyte!
Smartisan has taken a bold step to unveil what is known to be the phone with the largest internal storage on earth! The Smartisan R1 is not only an astonishing piece of mobile equipment, it has also set a world record, one that we may not see any other mobile phone manufacturer crack anytime soon.
Apart from storage what else does this mobile device has to offer?
Well, in a world that has seen top-notch design take reign, the Smartisan R1 is not slacking. Smartisan R1 has a super nice design and has disappointed in any means. The display practically reaches the top with a cut-out for the front-facing camera and a slit for the earpiece. There is a moderately-sized bezel at the bottom which gives the Smartisan R1 an 84% screen-to-body ratio.
The back of the phone is overlaid in 3D glass and the grade 7 aluminium frame has that thin line we have come to see on recent Smartisan phones. The fingerprint scanner is buried under the Smartisan logo and the buttons are circular.
It has a 6.17-inch pressure sensitive display with a 2242 x 1080 resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. It is covered with Gorilla Glass 3, has a 1500:1 contrast ratio, and a 96% colour gamut (DCI-P3). Let’s also acknowledge the presence of a Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at 2.8GHz and coupled with an Adreno 630 GPU. It also runs its own special operating system — Smartisan OS 6.0. The Smartisan R1 has dual rear cameras. The primary sensor is a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, 1.4 μm pixel size, 4-axis OIS, and dual PD extreme focus. The second is a 20MP Sony IMX350 with a f/1.75 aperture, 1μm pixel size, and 6P lens. The selfie camera is a 24MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture ArcSoft ray algorithm and AI real-time beauty mode.
No headphone jack! Smartisan definitely followed the likes of Apple and other top manufacturers in ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack. So don’t be surprised, it won’t be coming with one.
As for the connectivity, it has support for Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC+eSE, and has a USB-C port with Display Port 1.4. It also has dual SIM support (nano only) and global LTE band support. So you can be sure to use it with our 4G LTE bands in Nigeria!
