Reports gathered from a reliable source now confirm that Transsion’s trio Tecno, iTel and Infinix collectively dominate the African Smartphone Market.

If you have some catching up to do, well, TRANSSION HOLDINGS is the parent company for TECNO, Infinix and iTel and they have a massive usability ratio than other smartphone brands here in Africa!

According to the report published by Canalys on Twitter, TECNO shipped a total of 2.8 million phones in Q1 2018, while iTel and Infinix shipped 2.0 million and 1.0 million devices respectively. The total combined smartphone shipment for TRANSSION HOLDINGS now stands at 5.8 million against 3.4 million of SAMSUNG.

Here is a Tweet:

Despite @SamsungMobile leading the African market with 23% share in Q1 2018, Transsion's trio Tecno, iTel and Infinix collectively dominate the African smartphone market. TECNO, iTel and Infinix are all sub-brands of TRANSSION HOLDINGS and they jointly control more than 38% mobile phone market share in the first quarter of 2018, compared to 23% of Samsung. Although, Samsung sits top ahead of other mobile brands in Africa.

Another brand that’s waxing strong in Africa market is Huawei, they sit 4th with over 1.1 million devices sold in the Q1.

Do you think this is accurate considering the rate at which new brands are swarming into Africa? Or perhaps, do you think there are other brands that deserve to be on that list?
