As the electric vehicle (EV) market continues to grow, fast and efficient charging solutions are essential for wider adoption of the automobile alternative. Huawei recently tested its liquid-cooled EV supercharger in Turpan, China, known for its extreme heat.

The tests took place in the Kumtag Desert and Huoyan Mountain, where the air temperature reached 49.6°C, and the ground temperature went over 80°C. Despite these harsh conditions, Huawei’s technology worked very well.

One impressive feature of this supercharging system is its low noise levels. Even when the temperature was 47.1°C, the system kept noise levels to 44.1 dB in standby mode and 59.5 dB while charging. This means the system is quiet enough to not be disruptive in real-world use.

The success of this system is due to its advanced liquid cooling technology. This cooling method effectively removes the heat generated during charging, preventing the system from overheating and malfunctioning. Huawei also uses “precise temperature control algorithms,” which help maintain the stability and efficiency of the charging process.

Huawei didn’t just stop at testing the system’s performance in extreme heat. They also tested it with 414 vehicles, providing a total of 13,391 kWh of energy. These tests showed a nearly perfect success rate, with almost every vehicle fully charged on the first try.

However, it’s important to note that this technology is still in its early stages. Huawei hasn’t yet provided details about real-world deployment, specific charging speeds, or compatibility with different electric vehicle models. These tests are a positive step towards improving EV charging technology, but further details and application will be necessary to fully evaluate its potential.

Overall, these tests in the extreme heat of China’s Turpan region show that the liquid-cooled Huawei EV supercharger performs well under tough conditions. The system is quiet, efficient, and stable, thanks to its advanced cooling and temperature control methods.

It’s expected that there will be significant investment in EV charging infrastructure, with projections of billions of dollars in the coming years. Huawei’s supercharging technology could play a significant role in this development.
