A search for ‘coronavirus’ on Google will now display a search results page curated by the WHO World Health Organization which contains safety tips and the latest news.
Quoting The Verge, the collaboration between Google and WHO is one of the SOS Alerts from Google, a Google feature that aims to make emergency information more accessible to users during a crisis.
Google also announced a donation of US $250 thousand from Google.org, the non-profit wing of the search engine company. The donation will be given to the Chinese Red Cross to help support efforts to deal with the coronavirus.
WHO has announced the emergency status of the corona outbreak. Since the outbreak began in December 2019, there have been more than 8,000 confirmed cases and more than 170 deaths from the virus.
Several airlines have suspended or cancelled flights as a safety precaution, and several technology companies, including Google and Tesla, have closed their offices or operations in China because of the outbreak.
