There are many online services that require verification of the OTP code sent to the user’s phone number. As a result, the OTP SMS often accumulates because you’ve forgotten to delete it.
For some people, deleting OTP messages that accumulate on smartphones is a hassle. This is what makes Google inspired to present this one feature.
It is known that the Google Messages app update which has now been rolled out in India brings a new feature that can help users delete OTP messages automatically.
Based on information from Gizmochina, OTP messages that have stayed for 24 hours will be automatically deleted as the user is considered not to need the OTP code in the message anymore.
Google says that the feature relies on a machine learning system to detect messages containing OTP codes so that the system doesn’t mistakenly delete messages it deems important to users.
In addition, Google Messages will categorise message types according to their functions such as transactions, private messages, offers, and of course OTP.
Unfortunately, this feature is currently still available in India and only Android devices with at least Android 8 can try this feature.
