The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a bulletin announcing a new initiative for UTME candidates. In collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Board has finalized plans to provide JAMB customized SIM cards exclusively for UTME registration purposes.
These Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards are for facilitating the smooth registration process for candidates participating in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This innovative approach aims to streamline the registration procedure by ensuring that each UTME candidate receives a dedicated SIM card.
This initiative shows JAMB’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and reducing challenges often associated with registration processes, thereby providing candidates with a better experience as they prepare for the UTME.
JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, revealed this during a visit from a delegation of the West Africa Civil Societies Forum (WACSOF) to his office. He emphasized the Board’s commitment to constantly innovating and utilizing advanced technology to provide high-quality service to Nigerians.
He highlighted the Board’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency through modern technological solutions. He assured that the Board is dedicated to finding new methods to enhance service delivery, ensuring that Nigerians benefit from cutting-edge advancements.
The Registrar also assured the delegates that the Board is dedicated to ensuring that the UTME registration process is both smooth and adaptable. He emphasized the Board’s commitment to making the registration more user-friendly.
In addition, he also specified that the JAMB customized SIM cards are designated exclusively for UTME registration purposes. These SIM cards will be accessible solely to parents and will remain valid for a duration of five years.
Benefits of Using the JAMB Customized SIM Cards
In the past, many candidates have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the challenges they faced while trying to register for the UTME. A common issue was the difficulty caused by changing their SIM cards, which often disrupted the registration process.
Additionally, numerous candidates struggled to check their exam results because they lost the SIM card used during registration. This loss created significant obstacles, preventing them from accessing their results and causing considerable frustration.
To tackle the recurring issues of theft or lost registration cards, the Registrar highlighted the introduction of the new SIM system. He confidently stated that this new measure would effectively address the numerous problems candidates face during and after registration.
