LG Electronics Inc. launched an 83-inch OLED TV as a step to increase its presence in the premium TV market.

Yonhap News Agency reported that the LG 83C1 83-inch OLED TV will be available for the first time in South Korea and the US this month. In South Korea, the price list has been set, which is 10.9 million won (around ₦3.9 million in Nigeria).
LG became the first TV manufacturer to release an OLED TV with an 83-inch screen. The LG 83C1 is also the industry’s largest OLED TV with 4K resolution.
The new product expands LG’s lineup of OLED TVs, which already have 48, 55, 65, 77, and 88-inch models. The 88-inch model is an 8K resolution TV.

The LG 83C1 comes with advanced features, including 4K technology, to offer a better viewing experience when playing games and watching sports.
LG hopes its new 83-inch OLED TV can boost sales of its premium TVs amid the stay-at-home trend caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to market research firm Omdia data, LG’s OLED TV shipments increased 116 per cent year-on-year to 792,000 units in the first three months of 2021, its best performance for the first quarter.
Omdia previously predicted that the global OLED TV market this year will reach 5.8 million units, up from last year’s 3.65 million units.
