How To Root TECNO Camon C9 Android Phone

The TECNO Camon C9 is one of the newest device to be included in the TECNO Android mobile device. It specifically run on Marshmallow 6.0 making it extremely difficult to root using one-click root apps such as Framaroot, Kingroot, Kingoroot and so on, However, this write up will show you how to root TECNO Camon C9 in 17 easy steps.

Credits to team Hovatek for always finding solutions to the ever changing sphere of these Android device. TECNO Camon C9 can now be rooted easily. See method below.

HOW TO ROOT TECNO CAMON C9

There are basically two major steps involved:

  1. First is, Unlocking the Bootloader of the TECNO Camon C9
  2. Flashing the CWM recovery.img and SuperSU.zip

SEE STEPS BELOW

Step 1

Download SuperSU 2.66.zip here

Step 2

Copy SuperSU.zip to both the phone’s SD card and internal storage

Step 3

Download CWM for TECNO Camon C9 ported by Team Hovatek here

Step 4

Extract and copy the CWM recovery.img into the same folder as the fastboot.exe and adb.exe

Step 5

Unlock the Bootloader of the TECNO Camon C9 using the guide here

Step 6

Connect the phone to PC via USB cord while switched On and boot it into Fastboot (as instructed in the Bootloader unlock guide)

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Reboot the phone by typing the command below then pressing Enter fastboot reboot

Step 9

Boot the phone into recovery mode by switching off and using Volume up button + Power button (see how to do that here)

Step 10

In Clockworkmod recovery mode, you use the Volume up button to scroll up, Volume down button to scroll down and Power button to select

Step 11

Scroll down to Install zip and select it

Step 12

Select Choose zip from /storage/sdcard1

Step 13

Navigate to the location of SuperSu.zip and select it

Step 14

Select Yes – Install SuperSU to confirm flashing… Then wait till flashing is complete

Step 15

Return to the home screen (using the back option) then select Reboot

Step 16

If CWM offers to help fix a missing Root, select No

Step 17

Confirm Root by installing and running Root Checker
