Just as expected, Xiaomi finally officially launched its new flagship smartphone Mi 8. When it comes to its appearance, this brand-new Xiaomi Mi 8 device looks just like iPhone X.

But wait… Why is every phone trying to look like the iPhone X?

The Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with a 6.21-inch AMOLED screen Full HD+ 2248 x 1080p resolution, its Gorilla glass coated screen has an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 83.8%.

Following the current trend, Mi 8 has a ‘notch’ at the top of the screen. Like the iPhone X, Xiaomi also puts infrared lighting and infrared lens that is used for face unlock.

The Mi 8 selfie camera has a resolution of 20MP, f/2.0 aperture and pixel 1.8-micron size. Manufacturers from China has also claimed there is a presence of AI portrait selfie and beauty features in the front camera Mi 8.

As for the back, there is a double camera placed vertically which again resembles that of the iPhone X. The main camera uses a wide-angle sensor, Sony IMX363 12MP, resolution with f/1.8 aperture and pixel size of 1.4 microns.

While the camera both use S5K3M3 sensor with 12MP resolution, f/2.4 aperture and 1-micron pixel size. This dual rear camera has been boosted with OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, and dual-LED flash.

Moving on to the processor, Mi 8 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset combined with 6GB RAM and three internal memory or ROM variants, which is 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

I also got rumours that it would carry the fingerprint sensor under the screen, if true… this would be really cool because I am already getting fed up with the traditional fingerprint sensors. When released, Mi 8 will run with Android operating system 8.1 Oreo with interface MIUI 10.

Other features on the Xiaomi Mi 8, includes a 3400mAh battery capacity with fast charging functionality, dual GPS, dual SIM, 4G VoLTE connectivity, WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C.

This device would be coming in various colour variants depending on your choice — We will be getting black, blue, white, and gold. Xiaomi Mi 8 will launch with prices starting from 2,699 yuan for the lowest variant.

Here’s the complete price list of the Xiaomi Mi 8:

  • Xiaomi Mi 8 ROM 64GB ROM: 2.699 yuan or approx. N153,000 in Nigeria
