Apple has just announced the presence of its latest ARM-based chipsets, namely the M1 Pro and M1 Max which are present to be the successors of the Apple M1 which was launched in November 2020.
Through its presentation at the Apple Event, Apple announced that these two new chipsets come with 70% faster CPU performance compared to the Apple M1 chipset.
This is because both the M1 Pro and M1 Max chipset has a 5nm fabrication which has a 10-core CPU consisting of 8 high-performance cores and the remaining 2 are efficiency cores.
But specifically for the Apple M1 Pro, the chipset comes with a 16-core GPU that is able to provide 7x faster performance than the Integrated Graphics found on laptops with 8-core CPUs in general.
As for the Apple M1 Max, this chipset comes with even greater GPU performance thanks to 32 GPU cores that deliver 57 billion transistors enabling it to provide performance that is almost on par with today’s high-end PCs or laptops but with much less power.
But in terms of size, the Apple M1 Pro chipset is larger than the regular Apple M1, the Apple M1 Max certainly has a larger size because of the large number of cores.
Currently, the M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets have been presented in the latest MacBook Pro. Let’s just wait until the chipset is used on other Mac devices, that said, let me know your thoughts about these new chipsets.
