One of the well-known chipset manufacturers namely MediaTek some time ago has launched its new mid-range chipset called Helio G85. This chipset is known to be intentionally present to focus on gaming activities on smartphones.

Helio G85

Despite having lower performance than the Helio G90T chipset, the chipset that is equipped with a 1GHz GPU and the latest HyperEngine technology can make games run smoothly.

Even MediaTek claims that this latest chipset has technology that can make power last longer than usual.

In more detail, the Helio G85 comes with an ARM Mali-G52 GPU at 1GHz. In addition, the CPU itself comes with eight-core ARM Cortex-A75 2GHz processors and six Cortex-A55 processor cores with 1.8GHz speed.

For other features, MediaTek Helio G85 also supports Voice Wakeup (VoW) technology, 4G Dual-SIM usage, and support for multi-camera setup.

Currently, smartphones that have used the Helio G85 MediaTek chipset are only Redmi Note 9 only. Maybe in the future, there will be more smartphones using this chipset.

Redmi Note 9 announced this MediaTek chipset way before MediaTek actually made it official. Smartphone brands are so keen on getting new Mediatek gaming chipsets.

The upgrade in the GPU clock speed of Mediatek Helio G85 to 1GHz is quite fascinating! that is a huge difference from Helio G90T but only 50MHz extra from its predecessor Helio G80. I’m sure this will give an edge to helio G85 in the response time while playing fast games like PUBG
