Huawei has made its entry into the luxury electric vehicle (EV) market with its first high-end sedan, the Stelato S9. The car is developed in collaboration with the Beijing-based automaker BAIC Group and aims to compete in China’s expanding EV sector.

The launch of this high-tech electric vehicle showcases Huawei’s ambition to become a significant player in the automotive industry. The company is diversifying its offerings in an effort to capture a substantial share of the EV market.

The Stelato S9 is available in two models: the Max and the Ultra. According to ArenaEV, the starting price for the Max version is about €51,900, while the Ultra version is priced around €58,300.

Both models come with a robust 100 kWh battery. The Max version offers a range of up to 816 kilometers, while the Ultra can go up to 721 kilometers, based on the CLTC testing standards. Additionally, these cars can charge quickly, taking only 15 minutes to go from 30% to 80% battery capacity.

Huawei has contributed most of the technology for the vehicle. This includes the Advanced Driving System 3.0 (ADS 3.0), which is an intelligent assisted driving system. The car also features the omnidirectional collision avoidance system (CAS 3.0), enhancing safety by helping to avoid accidents from all directions.

Inside, the Ultra model is fitted with zero-gravity seats for maximum comfort. It also has a 32-inch lift-up projection screen, transforming the interior into a mobile entertainment center, giving passengers a cinematic experience while on the move. Additionally, the Stelato S9 includes Huawei’s Tuling platform, an AI-powered voice assistant that can respond to voice commands and manage various car functions.

The Stelato S9 is a sizable car, measuring 5,160 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width, and 1,486 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. This makes it nearly 200 mm longer than the Lucid Air sedan, 100 mm longer than the BMW i5, but 230 mm shorter than the BMW i7. Depending on the variant, it comes with either 20-inch ten-spoke wheels or 21-inch forged wheels.
