Not only Samsung, OPPO reportedly also plans to participate in developing smartphones with folding screen design.
Vendors from China is reported to have registered patents for three folding smartphone design at once. The first is a design like a folding phone or clamshell, but the entire surface is filled by the screen.
In an outstanding sketch design, OPPO equips an airbag or airbag to avoid display panels or screens damaged by folding. This design information and drawings are shared by the Dutch technology site LetsGoDigital.
The purpose of this airbag is to keep the air trapped inside the smartphone when bent, resulting in a flexible frame design.
The second design is a folding smartphone that uses a hinge so has a dual screen like ZTE Axon M. The difference is that the hinges do not separate the screen like ZTE Axon M, making it exactly like two smartphones merged together.
Precisely the hinge is hidden on the inside of the screen and the display panel still has the ability to curve and fold so that it remains visible as a device with one screen but with dimensions resembling a tablet.
While the third design, perhaps the most extreme of the other two. The design of this smartphone comes with three screens that can be folded twice so that it becomes one screen.
This design also still uses a hinge and magnetic mechanism to make the three screens attached when folded into one.
It is not known whether the design patents registered will be created in real form but LetsGoDigital knows that these patents are all registered since last February 22.
My Naija people, what are your views regarding flexible or bendable smartphones? Do you think it’s relevant to the changing mobile climate?
