If you are looking for a free alternative to Netflix, you can also opt for YouTube. Since last month, YouTube has added a catalogue of some 100 titles to the platform, all of which can be viewed for free if you do not bother having advertisements while watching.
According to AdAge, YouTube started to publish the titles in October on the YouTube Movies channel, where you can watch movies now for a fee. This, however, is available only in the US for the time being, but also expects the possibility here in Nigeria if it turns out to be popular.
YouTube hopes in the future to be able to offer exclusive premieres via the platform, an important move to stay relevant in the middle of the ever-increasing number of streaming services. According to them, the step is logical because more and more people visit the website via their smartTV and it is a lot harder to block ads there, while that is possible via the website.
What do you think about this, can they compete with Netflix to be the top movie streaming app in the world?
