Microsoft closed its digital internet gaming services such as Hearts, Spades, Checkers, Backgammon, and Reversi in various versions of Windows XP, Windows ME, and Windows 7.
Quoting CNET, the internet games will disappear from the Windows XP and Windows ME operating systems on July 31, 2019, but are still available on Windows 7 to January 22, 2020.
“We took that decision with a heavy heart. However, the time has come to us, together with our hardware and software partners, to invest our resources towards the latest technologies,” said the Windows game team.
Microsoft has focused on developing and launching the xCloud Xbox streaming service, which will be available on October 2019.
The service will offer games to users via devices such as smartphones and tablets and will play more than 3,500 digital game titles in the Xbox One game library list, as well as 1,900 titles under development.
