Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, its latest flagship Android smartphone featuring a massive 8,500mAh battery, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor and a secondary AMOLED display on the back.
Announced in China alongside the smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro, the Pro Max sits at the top of Xiaomi’s new flagship lineup with a large 6.9-inch display, up to 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage and a Leica-branded triple camera system featuring two 200MP sensors.
The phone also comes with a 2.9-inch AMOLED rear display, giving users access to information and selected functions without relying entirely on the main screen.
6.9-inch AMOLED Display and 2.9-inch Rear Screen
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2624 × 1208 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Xiaomi has paired the main screen with a 2.9-inch AMOLED display on the back, offering a resolution of 976 × 596 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The secondary screen can be used for checking information and accessing selected functions, while also serving as a viewfinder when taking photos with the rear cameras. Despite packing considerably more battery capacity, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max measures around 8.4 mm thick. It weighs between 235g and 240g, depending on the version. The smartphone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against water and dust.
Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile platform. The chipset is manufactured using a 2nm process and reaches CPU clock speeds of up to 5GHz. Xiaomi is pairing it with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The smartphone runs Android 17 with Xiaomi HyperOS 4 out of the box. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB Type-C. As expected from a modern flagship smartphone, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
Leica Camera System with Two 200MP Sensors
Photography is one of the major highlights of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The smartphone features a Leica-branded triple rear camera system comprising a 200MP Light Fusion 960L main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.
The main camera features optical image stabilisation (OIS), while the 200MP telephoto camera offers 3.2x optical zoom and OIS. Xiaomi has also equipped the phone with a 50MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The rear display can additionally serve as a camera preview screen, allowing users to frame selfies and other shots while taking advantage of the higher-quality rear cameras.
Massive 8,500mAh Battery
Battery capacity is another standout feature of the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The phone packs an 8,500mAh battery, significantly larger than the 7,000mAh unit found in the smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro. It supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, giving users several options for quickly topping up the large battery.
Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio support, an in-display fingerprint sensor, facial recognition and dual nano-SIM support.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Price and Availability
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max was launched in China on 23 September 2026, with the standard model starting at CNY 6,999 (approx. ₦1.38m in Nigeria) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration.
Pricing for the available configurations is as follows:
- 12GB + 256GB: CNY 6,999 (approx. ₦1.38m)
- 12GB + 512GB: CNY 7,999 (approx. ₦1.58m)
- 16GB + 512GB: CNY 8,999 (approx. ₦1.78m)
- 16GB + 1TB: CNY 9,999 (approx. ₦1.98m)
- 16GB + 1TB Transparent Special Edition: CNY 10,999 (approx. ₦2.18m)
The regular Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is available in Black, White, Ice Peach Pink and Galaxy Blue, while Xiaomi has also introduced a distinctive red Transparent Special Edition. The latter carries a higher price of CNY 10,999 for the 16GB + 1TB configuration.
The phone went on sale in China immediately following its announcement. A wider international rollout is expected, although Xiaomi has yet to provide market-specific pricing and availability for all regions. We are uncertain about the release date or availability of the flagship series in Nigeria, but we remain hopeful.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max vs Xiaomi 18 Pro
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max shares several features with the smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro, including a secondary rear display, Leica-branded cameras, 100W wired charging and Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS software.
There are, however, some significant differences.
The Pro Max has a larger 6.9-inch display, compared with the 6.4-inch panel on the Xiaomi 18 Pro. Its rear display is also slightly larger at 2.9 inches compared with 2.7 inches on the Pro.
Another major difference is battery capacity. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max packs an 8,500mAh battery, while the smaller Pro comes with a 7,000mAh unit.
Performance also differs, with the Pro Max using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
The Pro Max also uses Xiaomi’s Light Fusion 960L sensor for its 200MP main camera. Both models feature a 200MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
With its larger display, bigger battery and higher-end chipset, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is positioned as the more powerful of Xiaomi’s two new Pro flagships, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro provides many of the same features in a smaller body.
