MediaTek has expanded its line of 5G chipsets where it has now launched the Dimensity 900 SoC which is the successor to the Dimensity 820 chipset.
Dimensity 900 is still present for the mid-range market segment where they want to present a high-performance chipset and 5G network support at a cheaper price.
Dimensity 900 SoC Features:
Just like Dimensity 1100 and 1200, this chipset has a 6nm fabrication produced by TSMC. The CPU in this chipset also has a speed of up to 2.4GHz which is sufficient for a mid-range chipset.
Meanwhile, the GPU itself is equipped with the ARM Mali-G68, where this GPU is one class below the Mali-G77 GPU used in Dimensity 1200. However, the Mali-G68 itself is a GPU that has a newer core than the Mali-G77.
MediaTek said that the Dimensity 900 chipset supports several features such as WiFi-6, Bluetooth 5.2, a camera with a resolution of up to 108MP, up to UFS 3.1 storage.
This chipset also allows smartphone vendors to equip their smartphones with 120Hz screens in Full HD resolution.
Until now, there is no information regarding what smartphone will use this chipset for the first time. Rumours are circulating that the OPPO Reno 6 or Reno 6 Pro smartphone will be the first to use this chipset.
