Having released the Motorola Moto G6 in the month of April, the smartphone OEM thought it best to release a stripped-down version afterwards. Motorola Moto G6 Play features some technical specs similar to the Moto G6, and its price being lower than its counterpart makes it more interesting.
The design of this Motorola Moto G6 Play bears a lot of contrast to the Moto G6. First off, the fingerprint scanner gets moved to the back, specifically placed underneath the Moto emblem. Also, the camera compartment bears just one camera unlike the dual camera setup in the Moto G6. The light sensor and the front camera are placed side by side leaving the LED flash to be placed on the other side of the earpiece. Meanwhile, the Moto G6’s camera was placed right beside its flash support while the sensor was positioned on the other end of the earpiece.
However, in the display section, the 5.7 inches IPS screen, 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass featured on this Moto G6 Play didn’t change from that of Moto G6. Nonetheless, the resolution takes a dip in quality as it pegs 720 X 1440 pixels. Its splash resistant nature ensures no harm occurs to the smartphone if exposed to little droplets of water. Also, Android Oreo OS is the active software on this device.
In the rear camera section, a 13MP shooter directs the photography duties. It is backed up by a LED flash which provides brightness in low light conditions. At the front, selfies are produced by a single 8MP camera that’s also supported by a LED flash. The smartphone has a 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM variant that handles multitasking and files storage respectively. It also has a larger variant of 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM serving same purposes.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC works non-stop as the engine of the smartphone. It is accompanied by an octa-core 1.4GHz CPU and Adreno 505 GPU. What provides the long term duration of the phone is a non-removable Li-Ion 4,000mAh battery that’s with Fast Charging technology.
