After a long wait, Qualcomm finally officially announced the presence of its latest flagship chipset, Snapdragon 888 at the Snapdragon Tech Summit event on December 1, 2020.
This chipset is known to be the flagship chipset for Android in 2021 which will be used by several smartphone vendors such as Samsung, OnePlus, LG, Sony, and many more.
It doesn’t come with the name Snapdragon 875, Snapdragon 888 comes with a big upgrade for 5G connections. Finally, the chipset comes with an integrated 5G modem, unlike the Snapdragon 865 chipset which requires a separate modem inside.
It is known that the Snapdragon 888 chipset is equipped with the 5G X60 modem which was announced earlier this year. Moreover, now the chipset has also used a 5nm fabrication which provides a tremendous improvement in its efficiency.
Not only does it present improvements on the 5G network, this chipset also has a 6th generation AI Engine which promises to improve in terms of performance and power efficiency thanks to the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The last one is the photography capabilities that are presented on the chipset. It is stated that Snapdragon 888 can capture 120 photos in 1 second with a resolution of 12 MP. This can happen because of the new ISP update which has 35 percent faster speeds.
It is planned that this chipset will be used for the first time by Samsung in the Galaxy S21 Series smartphone which will be announced in January 2021. However, until now there has been no confirmation from Samsung regarding the use of the new chipset.
We’ll see confirmation from Qualcomm on the second day of the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020 event, guys. Write your opinion about this chipset in the comments below!
