Qualcomm Snapdragon, the topmost manufacturer of system-on-chip semiconductors has unveiled three new SoCs for mid-range and budget smartphones. The three chipsets unveiled by the US based company today are: Qualcomm Snapdragon 629, Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 chipsets.

Despite the announcement, these chipsets will be start shipping on smartphones in the second half of the year. With that development, the already high tally of commercial devices running on the Qualcomm 600 and 400 series will increase. For specifics, the Qualcomm 600 series have been announced by global OEMs on over 1,350 commercial devices while the Qualcomm 400 series have powered over 2,300 commercial devices.

If specs are anything to go by, the chipsets are bound to offer improved processor and GPU performance. The chipsets are also primed for low power consumption, thereby yielding a lengthier battery life. Additionally, these SoCs have support for Artificial Intelligence (AI), mobile payments as well as security solutions.

For camera configuration, dual cameras of 13MP + 13MP or a single 24MP can be supported by the chipset. Video resolution of either 4K@30fps or 1080p@60fps is enabled. Interesting enough, the 4G LTE network is supported, and as much as 300Mbps download / 100Mbps upload speed. Dual 4G VoLTE as well as Wi-Fi 802.11ac (364Mbps) are other features of this chipset.
