Who has been browsing on an Android smartphone but suddenly annoying ads appear? Such events are certainly frustrating because it makes browsing and other activities on the smartphone become uncomfortable.

In addition to making it uncomfortable, the presence of pop-up ads that often appear suddenly also indicates your smartphone is attacked by malware. The characteristics of smartphones affected by malware include pop-up advertisements, Google Chrome front pages that change frequently, unwanted Google Chrome extensions reappear, and warnings about viruses.

Then, how do you get rid of ads on Android smartphones along with the malware that causes them? Here are three ways to remove ads on Android smartphones without the root process as summarized Naijaknowhow from various sources.

How to Remove Ads on Android Smartphones

1. How to Eliminate Ads on the Chrome Browser

If you often use the Google Chrome browser to browse, you can use this method to eliminate annoying ads. First, open the Google Chrome application and click the three vertical dots on the upper right side then select the Settings menu.

Scroll down to the Site Settings option and click the Pop-ups and redirects option. Click on existing toggles to grey and block pop-up ads.

You can also block ads on certain sites by clicking on the Ads option under the Pop-ups and redirects option. Then click the toggle until it’s grey and the advertisement has been blocked.

Besides that, you can also remove unwanted notifications from certain sites. Still in the Site Settings menu, look for the Notifications option. Then click the switch until it is greyed out and there is a description of Blocked.

2. How to Eliminate Ads with Applications

If your Android smartphone uses a browser other than Google Chrome, there is also a separate way to remove ads in the browser using third-party applications.

adguard

You can simply download the Adguard Content Blocker application on the Google Play Store or directly from the Adguard site. This application can be downloaded for free, but the free version is only limited to removing advertisements in the browser. While the paid version can remove ads in other applications.

This application can also remove ads without root because AdGuard can work in VPN mode.

3. How to Eliminate Ads and Malware

In addition to the two methods above, you can also eliminate ads that appear suddenly on Android smartphones because of malicious applications and malware. Apart from eliminating advertisements, this method can also make your device safer.

The first step is to remove the problematic application. Press the power button and hold the Power Off option on the screen to restart your smartphone in safe mode. Then delete the application you just downloaded one by one.

Every time you delete an application, restart your device to see if the newly deleted application has solved the problem. After finding and deleting the problematic application, you can download the other application that was deleted again.

After that, you can protect your smartphone from malicious applications by activating the Play Protect feature. The way is to open the Google Play Store application then click the menu on the top left side.
