Samsung will immerse a flexible OLED technology screen for its folding smartphone, Galaxy X, which is planned to be released next year.
Now, a recent news says that the screen that can be bent and will not only be limited to use on Samsung smartphones but will also be sold to other manufacturers.
Quoting ET News, rumours from South Korea claimed that other manufacturers that would use folding screens apart from Samsung were OPPO and Xiaomi. These OEM also planned to launch smartphones with flexible screens.
If this rumour is true, this is not too surprising because Samsung Display as the division of Samsung’s company that made screen panels so far has indeed supplied the components to various other manufacturers, including Apple which is Samsung’s heavy competitor
The difference is, for this folding screen panel, Samsung reportedly will soon send components to the other manufacturers once the goods are available, without waiting for a while to provide an advantage in the market for Samsung smartphones themselves.
The report from South Korea also stated that OPPO and Xiaomi had been sent samples of flexible OLED panels for testing.
The same report also states that Samsung wants to quickly build a gadget ecosystem with folding screens. The more manufacturers that make gadgets with folding screens, the faster the market for this type of device will be formed.
And in the end, Samsung will also benefit, moreover there is also revenue generated from selling flexible OLED panels to other manufacturers.
