WhatsApp and Google agreed to initiate a new agreement. According to this update, WhatsApp backup will no longer reduce Google Drive’s storage quota.

This collaboration will encourage Android users to regularly back up their WhatsApp chat even though they don’t have much storage space on Google Drive.

Google itself has sent notifications regarding this change via Gmail. This policy will apply to all users from 12 November 2018, although some users may be able to enjoy it earlier.
