In this post, I want to share with you a message sent to me from Airtel Nigeria advertising the new Airtel value plan for calling. According to them, the Airtel value tariff plan gives you room to make local calls at a whopping 11k/seconds to all network in Nigeria. This is not the normal Airtel SmartVALUE plan we use to know.
The wow side is, you don’t have to pay for any first-minute access charge. All you have to do is… Migrate to Airtel value plan and start enjoying cheap calls rates on the Airtel network.
However, there’s a flip side:
And that’s, not everyone is likely to enjoy the offer because contains the message I got, there was a part that says“exclusive to me”, which implies that some SIM might not be eligible.
Message from Airtel:
“Stop unwanted deductions & make calls at 11k/sec from the 1st minute! Dial *243# NOW to migrate to Airtel’s VALUE PLAN. Offer is exclusive to you”
How To Migrate To Airtel Value Plan
- To activate, simply dial *243#.
- You will get a message welcoming you to the new Airtel value plan with 11k/sec call rates.
What would be my call duration on Airtel Value Plan with ₦100?
Let’s do the calculations for (all network):
- N0.11kobo X 60 seconds = N6.6k
- So, with N100 recharge card, you will get > N100/N6.6 ≅ 15 minutes 9 seconds

Nothing is said about international calls and SMS rates. Are international calls not included in the plan?
