There are many ways to add a layer of security to the device so it is not easily unlocked or accessed by others. Starting from the PIN, drawing patterns, fingerprints, to face recognition are commonly used on today’s smartphones. Now, there is an unlock method using earbuds which appears to be the latest method explorable.
Designed by Alvaro Navarro, earbuds or earphones that are only limited to this concept want to be a solution when people in the pandemic are having a hard time implementing additional security using face recognition.
How to unlock using face recognition and the fingerprint sensor is quite widely used by smartphone users. But because during the pandemic people use masks and gloves, it will be inconvenient for users if they have to take it off first.
This is what inspired Alvaro Navarro to design earbuds that can be used at the same time to unlock phones. Just tap the earbud, and the phone will open.
“This method is convenient because this wireless earbud is equipped with a touch sensor, easy to use, can work with almost all smartphones,” wrote Alvaro Navarro as quoted by Yanko Design.
Based on Alvaro Navarro’s description, this earbud still uses fingerprints to authenticate with smartphones for the first time. Furthermore, users can just tap the earphone to open the smartphone. The distance between the earphone and smartphone must be close enough to function properly.
